Children are required to attend school from the start of the term following their fourth birthday. All of our new starters begin school in the September following their fourth birthday. Our transition into school includes opportunities for the children to visit school, school staff visiting children in their nursery settings, home visits and parent information evenings. We have full week of transition in the Summer Term where all of the children have the opportunity to come to school for the week and experience all aspects of school life. We have found that by investing in the transition process in the Summer term, children are ready and well-prepared to start school in September.
Admission applications are made to North Yorkshire County Council who then allocate places and advise school and parents in the April prior to starting school. The link to this application is below. We also require parents to complete our own application form, again this link is provided below.
At St. Mary's Catholic Primary School, we pride ourselves in being an outstanding school with excellent EYFS facilities. Our continuation of high quality teaching and transitions between year groups means your child will continue to excel and build on their knowledge and skills throughout their time with us.
