Attendance

It is important that you inform the school of your child’s absence,  please call the school on 01653 692274 as soon as possible and preferably before 8.50am. There is an answer machine if no-one is available to take your call.  The school is committed to ensuring that pupils’ attendance is at its maximum. We undertakes a register check each half term and will follow up any concerns regarding attendance or punctuality.  Serious or persistent cases can lead to prosecution and fines, so we urge you to work with us to maintain a high level of attendance.

This is how Ofsted rates your child’s school attendance

  • 100%-99% OUTSTANDING
  • 98%-97% GOOD
  • 96%-95% SATISFACTORY
  • 94%-91% INADEQUATE
  • 90%-86% CAUSE FOR CONCERN
  • 85% & below SERIOUS CONCERN

The Academy expects every child to have at least 97% attendance at any one time throughout the school year.

Leave of absence

A Headteacher will not grant leave of absence during term time unless there is an exceptional circumstance.

The exceptional circumstances will focus on:

  • A recent serious illness or bereavement of an immediate family member
  • A member of the Armed Forces whereby they need to undertake a tour of duty, which conflicts school holidays
  • Restrictions on Police leave or other emergency services where specific duties are undertaken in relation to a national event, which conflicts with school holidays

Where required, evidence of the exceptional circumstances will be requested.
